Fugu @ Damansara Jaya

Fugu, literally "river pig"..

Fugu is located in Damansara Jaya, ss22/25, nearby the building which was previously the Atria shopping centre, beside a Thai restaurant. It has comfortable environment which enables us to hang out with our buddies for a dining and chitchatting session. =D

Fugu Specials
which is shown outside the restaurant before you step onto the doorstep.

Fugu serves varieties of Japanese food which u could find in other Japanese restaurants as well. However, the price in Fugu is considered reasonable and affordable if you compare them with other lavish Japanese restaurants such as Umai-ya and Zen.
Fugu's food menu..

For those who always dine in Japanese restaurants, u would find the difference of the normal Japanese ocha with Fugu's one. Their green tea is rather tastes more like the Korean's one, with the additional taste of brown rice.

There are set meals available in more worthy price everyday, except Sunday and public holidays. For set lunch during 12pm-3pm, they have sushi bar luncheon comes with miso soup and salad, teppanyaki luncheon comes with rice and miso soup; AND special luncheon box comes with miso soup, house salad, kappa maki, chawan mushi, appetiser, rice & fruit, which is suitable for big eaters. ;O
Special luncheon box - Grilled saba (RM19)
P/S: My friend said their dinner was nicer, maybe different cook? She was sad for this haha! xP

Special luncheon box - Salmon shioyaki (RM20)

In addition, they offer lunch maki combo with miso soup served. This is suitable for those who just want to have some sushi rolls as their light lunch. You can order any 2 rolls for RM 15 or any 3 rolls for RM19.
Unagi maki (eel with avacado) & Spicy salmon avacado maki.
- The unagi maki was quite disappointing as we could not even taste any unagi inside.
  NOT NICE! =S
- The spicy salmon avacado maki was nice with its spicy sauce on top,
with the fresh salmon slice and avacado inside.
P/S: Aww, maybe we should just order those recommended maki
        (with a thumb-up C on the menu).

For set dinner with a lighter meal, u can just order its donburi - rice dishes served with miso soup and salad.
Donburi - Torikatsu don
If you are very very very HUNGRY, then u could have the set dinner which comes with miso soup, salad, chawan mushi, appetiser, rice & fruit.
Grilled mackerel set

Grilled teriyaki salmon set
The grilled mackerel was YUMMY with its soft and well grilled texture. The appetiser was some salad thingy which we expected to be in mayonnaise taste, but it was in slight salty taste instead. Somehow, it was very nice & special. Their chawan mushi is nice in the sense that its steamed egg is smooth and with adequate portion of sauce (some chawan mushi is tasteless or too much of water =X) with mushroom, crabmeat, and ginkgo. Similarly, the grilled salmon was delicious as it had soft texture which could melt once u bite! "Om nom nom..Mmmmm......!" ;D

Others than the sets, Fugu also serves House special maki which looks delicious (might try it next time! =)), Yakimono (grilled dishes such as grilled cod fish, grilled tiger prawn with salt, and grilled spanish mackerel with butter), Niku ryori (meat dishes such as baked skewers of chicken & onion, grilled lamb rack, and grilled wagyu beef), Fried rice and udon/soba, etc.
Fried udon seafood.. Its sauce is nice and appetising!
I love they fried it with quite a lot of scallops hehe.
But too bad, I don't like bean sprout. =X
Nabeyaki udon.. The soup tastes nice!

What else is in the menu???

Moreover, Fugu does not miss out serving those common side dishes such as edamame and tofu. Here's the shishamo (boneless fish egg) that we ordered. It was bigger than expected but was okay only, not the best among those we have eaten in other Japanese restaurants.

Shishamo

For sushi & sashimi served, it was nice and fresh, but Umai-ya's ones are nicer as their sushi rice tastes better & they have more choices for those more unique sushi! =)
Salmon sushi

Lastly, Fugu's menu has the last section which offers their most precious food - special sashimi grilled with sea salt & the grilled tuna eye ball with sea salt. These two items are not priced, as their costs will be varied according to the season.
The tuna eye ball.. =O

Slurrrppp! Fugu's food in overall is DELICIOUS and it has become my recently often visited place. For those who love Japanese food, you won't want to MISS this! =P
