D Legends Bar @ TTDI

Happy Birthday, Ivy~!

Whee~ It's my bestie's birthday yesterday! So, I brought her for a nice dinner at D Legends Bar, right behind TTDI's Starbucks.

D Legends Bar has romantic, dim light environment, with all the remarkable legends portrait printed as its wallpaper. Guess this is why it was named as D Legends Bar? ;D
Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, etc...

D Legends Bar is famous for all the pork stuff like pork burger, pork satay, and pork pizza. What I have to mention beforehand is all the menu items are quoted in nett price & are of a more affordable price (majority are within RM20).

Furthermore, D Legends Bar has alcoholic drinks like beers and cocktails. Of course, they serve wines in glass or in bottle too.
Merlot, Frontera, Chile red wine @ RM18/glass OR RM83/bottle.

The pork burger @ RM22 is their 'must have' item in the menu. Buttery light brioche bun, accompanied by the juicy pork patty, salsa, and mozzarella cheese. Pork patty is juicy and spicy with all the spices added, mixed tastes in the meat makes it turn out to be more outstanding.

Two-way mushroom tapas served with crusty bread @ RM15 -

How does it go two-way?
ie. You can choose the mushroom tapas EITHER in creamy garlic sauce OR with the olive oil, garlic, and herb. Creamy garlic mushroom tapas is awesome with the super rich and thick mushroom gravy, while the 'super garlic' savour makes it taste even heavenly. Nah, we could not resist to clear the whole thing off, not even any sauce is left. xD

Shepherd's pie @ RM20 is made of spiced minced lamb with root vegetables, topped with buttery mash and melted mozzarella cheese. This is such a fulfilling plate of meal that can well-feed someone in hunger. Abundance of mashed potatoes are stuffed together with the tasty minced lamb under the mozzarella cheese layer. It is advisable to have it sharing with someone else.

Red wine is moderately mild and very smooth, quite good.

Cheers!

The birthday girl.. ;)
Happy Birthday!

Here's what I prepared for my forever-young-hearted-girl bestie - her favourite "le-sucre" art work (thanks Slurp Cafe for the helping hands), with the chocolate bailey cake.

&

my hand-drawn birthday card hehe..
Present from Mt Sapola - aromatic lavender room spray.

To conclude this, D Legends Bar is a simple yet nice bar, with delicious porky meals served in reasonable price. The outstanding part of their food is how they excellently apply different kinds of spices together into their meals.  For my next visit, I would definitely like to try the legendary pork pizza & pork satay. Hmm..how legend will they be? =P

Peppino @ Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa

The Italian Fine Dining..

Peppino is an Italian fine dining restaurant, locating in the luxury hotel of Kota Kinabalu - the Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa.

Peppino has a spacious dining area with romantic dim lighting and high class ambiance, alongside the red wines displayed on the wine racks magnificently. It was once awarded as Sabah's best restaurant in hotel.

Menu comprises mainly of the common Italian cuisine like meats, pastas, and pizzas. Those consist of wine/nuts are thoughtfully well-labeled, probably to alert customers with allergy. Prices are reasonable as everything is within RM100, except for the high grade meat.
The main menu
The pizza menu

Once seated, we were offered with either the wine or the plain (or) sparkling water. Definitely not a regular wine drinker, so we opted for the sparkling one (Sam's favourite =P).

Orders were taken and in a short moment, appetiser was served.
Rocky hard but tasted good pastries were served,...
...together with the fresh octopus with slight sweet chili sauce.

To start with the meal, you can have their starters such as the scallop, maguro, buffalo, and beef tenderloin. Otherwise, salads are available for the healthy green eaters.

Peppino has premium meat, thereof some contain red wine. Risotto is limited as there is only one choice for that, whereas they have special kinds of pastas. For instance, the potato gnocchi could be found here. Pizzas are more attracting as there are more varieties offered.

Italian desserts like tiramisu, panna cotta, and vanilla dome are available in Peppino. The malted chocolate milk and banana mousse with cherry sauce is chef recommended, yet we had no chance to try it, perhaps for the next visit.
Rack of lambs with herbs, fennel, and potato puree.
The lambs are very tender and juicy, definitely a high premium meat.
Mashed potato is in nice buttery texture.
Black ink spaghetti with cuttlefish ragout, tomato sauce & salted ricotta.

We were deceived by its 'black ink' wordings.
Expected to be a squid ink pasta, instead it was a black-inked pasta.

Nonetheless, the sauce is very sour and tomato-ish.
Great for the tomato lovers, but those who dislike
sourish food better not to go for this.
Seafood pizza with black mussel, local clams, rock lobster, prawns
and wakame seaweed with dried chili flakes, garlic & Parmesan cream.

Well-balanced ingredients, juicy seafood pizza, hard-to-cut but nice pizza dough.
I found that this pizza dough has the similar texture with the one in
Troika's Strato, probably that is how an Italian pizza works out to be? =D

Generally, Peppino serves high quality food which are delicately prepared. Great environment and good service it has, made us feel like treated as the Queens hehe..
Me with my ugly pudding head.. =O

Strato & Claret @ Troika Sky Dining

Jessica's 24th Birthday Celebration~

This is written dedicated for my bestie, Jessica upon her 24th birthday celebration held at the Troika Sky Dining. Troika Sky Dining is divided into three parts - the Cantaloupe French restaurant, the Strato Italian restaurant, and the Claret wine bar.

The Troika is located at Jalan Binjai as a luxury condominium with a few of high-end restaurants operated at the Ground floor. Thereof, the Troika Sky Dining is placed at the highest level of the Tower B, which is exposed to the KL city view.
Claret at the lower level, with a spiral staircase walking towards Strato.
Kindly remind that ladies are advised to wear shorts or
non-flare dress/skirt to avoid unwanted embarrassment. =D

So, we had a simple birthday dinner at the Strato Italian restaurant. Strato is popular for its homemade pasta and pizza. To secure a table, you have to come earlier as Strato does not accept any reservation except for large parties above 8 guests, with specific deposit required.
Oops, Strato supports human interaction! =O

Strato serves Italian fine cuisine, including the appetisers, mains (pasta, pizza, meat), and the desserts.

A basket of bread as appetiser, before the meal.

For the mains, we had their pizza and pasta as it was claimed that Strato is famous for that.
Linguini with crab meat, chili, rocket,
crab sauce and garlic chips.
Potato gnocchi with braised chicken ragu and shaved cured foei gras.
The gnocchi is a more different kind of pasta which is
very 'flour' in texture, quite a special dish.
Treccine with pesto, prawns, tomato and salami.
Prawns are given in a generous amount! ;D
Pizza with beef prosciutto, sauteed baby spinach,
roasted onion, mozzarella cheese and carbonara sauce.
Beef prosciutto are slight crunchy & the cheese has distinct and strong taste.
Pizza dough is nice especially at the thickest end part.
Others than these, there are roasted chicken, ribeye steak, and wagyu beef as well, for the meat lovers. xP

Desserts like tiramisu, pistachio cake, and panna cotta are available in Strato. Amongst the list, we had the vanilla dome with white chocolate crumble & brandy sponge as Jessica's birthday cake.
Outer layered white chocolate topped with caramel,
hearted with brandy sponge & served with salted/sweetened peanuts.
Not a bad one, quite special, but the brandy was a bit mild.
Strato's workers were so sweet that they created a romantic ambiance by serving the dessert with all the lights off. =D Candle was lighted up with birthday song sung, a simple yet warm-hearted birthday wish for Jessica.
Make a wish & blow the candle - Dreams come true! x)

After the birthday dinner, we headed downstairs to the Claret wine bar to enjoy our sip of red wine. The wine specialist was so helpful to introduce us which wine to be taken, in accordance to our preferable taste.
This is the one he recommended:
A bit fruity taste, not too strong, not too dry, not too bitter.

A simple snap of me and the birthday girl.
