Vedablu @ Phileo Damansara I

Who doesn't love ice cream..?

Here's another favourite shop of mine in KK, that has been expanded into KL one year ago. Vedablu produces premium Italian ice cream, that was previously located in Sabah's Warisan Square and City Mall. However, they have ceased operation in both of the outlets, leaving the one in Phileo Damansara I, in West Malaysia. Others than this outlet, they do supply their ice cream to several hotels & restaurants in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah.

Vedablu is located behind the Eastin Hotel in Phileo Damansara. It is a quiet area that seems to be isolated and hardly to be seen. I found it only after I entered the SCP parking.
The parking token..

Basically, Vedablu here is a small ice cream shop that only fits few tables and seats. The ambiance is classy with its simple decoration and lighting. It provides comfortable sofa chairs and has very cooling, peaceful environment.

Vedablu provides ice cream & sorbet, desserts like pudding and waffle, beverages, as well as cakes. This is slightly different from the former KK's outlets as they offer a wider range of ice cream products.

Why am I loving the Vedablu ice cream?

This is because they have some refreshing flavours that other ice cream shops do not have, and their ice creams are of premium quality, and taste naturally.

My all time favourite ice cream is the Calamansi Sorbet (the top scoop). This is so far the best 'kit chai'-flavoured that I had. It is very refreshing and cooling that I will never get bored or hate of having it more. Other similarly refreshing flavours such as Lemon Sorbet, Dragonfruit, and Mango-Waterlily are available too.

The bottom scoop is the Gianduia, the Ferrero Rocher chocolate flavour. This is another unique flavour that we could hardly get in any ice cream shops, even if there is, they might be not as nice as Vedablu's. Therefore, anyone who loves Ferrero Rocher must not miss out trying this!

Vedablu is not popularly known, and probably most of the West Malaysians do not know its existence. Adding on to its not-so-strategic location, its exposure to the public is getting even more difficult.

Nonetheless, it offers nice ice cream and many of the Sabahans loved having it, but it is a sad case that KK's branches are not available anymore. Hence, billion hopes of mine is now putting on this outlet haha! Hope that this could survive well so that I could at least get to enjoy their ice cream here. ;P
Come and grab the Vedablu's ice cream NOW! =D

Kah Hiong Ngiu Chap @ Puchong

Sabahan's craving is fixed! =D

Kah Hiong Ngiu Chap has opened its first branch in West Malaysia, at Puchong Bandar Puteri. Therefore, any Sabahan who has been craving for the KK's taste of beef noodle in KL could visit this outlet anytime as desired.
Signboard declaring that it is Sabah's specialised branch.
KK branch doesn't have such a cute logo. ;P

The branch here has better environment with air-conditioned facilities and comfortable seats arrangement. You don't have to sweat while eating your bowl of ngiu chap anymore hehe..

Open kitchen can be seen and all the cooks are doing their respective tasks orderly. They should have been given sufficient training beforehand, in order to sustain the similar taste of ngiu chap with the KK's one. Furthermore, it is claimed that the beef ingredients are imported from KK.

Menu is the same with the KK branch's, just that they have made some adjustment to the price.

So, similarly, I ordered what I used to order in KK's Kah Hiong Ngiu Chap. My favourite plate of 'kon lou' beef noodle is way better than the one serving in soup, as the dry kuey tiaw is delicious with its specially marinated sauce. Somehow, I found that most of the West Malaysians order the one serving in soup.
'Kon lou' kuey tiaw topped with minced pork.
'Kon lou' mee
Sabahan's favourite taste of ngiu chap soup! ;D

Of course, don't forget to drip its chili sauce as it seems to be harder to get this kind of nice chili sauce in West Malaysia.

A glass of three layered milk tea would be a better complement to the meal.

Basically, the beef noodle soup in this Puchong branch shares the same taste with the one in KK's main branch. However, the 'kon lou' kuey tiaw sauce is not as tasty as the KK's one.

Overall, it is still a nice Kah Hiong Ngiu Chap as what I have always wanted for is this kind of beef noodle soup, that we could not get in KL. Well, slight expensive price might be contributing to the better cooling environment, but who cares if the original delicious taste of Kah Hiong Ngiu Chap remains hehe.. Most importantly, KK-ians' cravings are fixed. ;P
A full meal around RM18.

The Carpenter's Daughter @ Taipan, USJ

Home-styled Bakery & Cafe

Randomly found out this little cute cafe in USJ Taipan after driving around there to search for a nice place for coffee. It is less noticeable and you would think that it is just a pastry shop selling breads, indeed it served as a cafe as well.

The Carpenter's Daughter Artisan Bakery & Cafe has comfy environment which makes us feel homey. As u step into the cafe, you could see the pastry shop selling varieties of their homemade breads.

The Carpenter's Daughter has good bread in the sense that they bake their bread using healthier ingredients. Moreover, they do not stingy in the ingredients used in producing the bread as u can know through the heavier weight of their pastries. As a consequence, they might be selling off at slight expensive price, but they definitely worth the price.
You need to take note of their white board
to know which pastries are available everyday.

Too bad that their signature bread, ciabatta has been sold out due to the overwhelming demand. Therefore, I bought home the other bread highly recommended by the cafe owner. The cafe owner is kinda friendly in introducing every single bread and it can be seen that she put a lot of passion in operating the cafe. ;)
Pumpkin loaf baked healthily with all the natural ingredients.
Italian square with full herbs, the herb taste is awesomely nice!
I hardly fall for any bread, but this definitely caught my heart hehe..
(probably the bread tastes too good with the herbs) ;D
Focaccia, similarly with herbs inside. Yumm!

Little area of cafe with cute red polka dots table cloth..
Bread is freshly made behind.

There are homemade cakes displayed at the counter.

Menu comprises of lunch such as pasta and sandwiches too. I would take a chance to try it on my next visit.

The Carpenter's Daughter offers a variety of good deal to dine in the cafe. For example, anyone orders a cake can be given a free black coffee. There is afternoon tea set as well, that many of the customers ordered, probably I would try it next time when I am not that full hehe..

For a lighter tea session after a full lunch, I got to try the cakes and coffee only.
Red velvet cake with super light taste,
maybe due to the healthier ingredients used. ;)
Brownies from the hot oven.
Hot cappuccino was lack of the fragrance.
Hot macchiato, similarly not as fragrant as I expected.

It was glad that I found this home-styled cafe here as it is absolutely a nice cafe for us to enjoy a relaxing high tea session. Coffees and cakes are not too special for me, but the breads are definitely my favourite. Healthier concept of producing the food probably would be the best point for me to pay a visit to this bakery & cafe again.
